Why did I develop this website? About three years ago, I stumbled across an auction on eBay for a big-eyed "Blythe" doll. Since I had never even heard of a Blythe doll before, I was naturally curious. When I clicked on the auction, I was mezmerized by the uniqueness of the doll. My favorite thing about her were the huge color-changing eyes! Of course, I bidded on her, and won the auction - yay! After that, I was hooked! I had been collecting other dolls such as the Ideal Tammy dolls, but I loved Blythe so much, that I decided to devote my doll collecting to her. I used to do a lot of painting & sketching, but had given it up for about ten years. One day, I was checking out the art on eBay, & a light bulb came on in my head! I decided I would paint Blythe doll portraits, & sell them on eBay!
My Blythe paintings were featured in the July/August 2001 issue of Barbie Bazaar magazine, in the article, "Blythe: American Gothic Doll", which was wonderfully written by Tiffany Lewis. Gina Garan, author of This Is Blythe, commissioned me to paint a Blythe portrait for her, as did Tiffany Lewis. These paintings are featured in the art section of Gina Garan's website:
